NEWS

Street Parties
Residents of Courtenay and Crawshay Drives are hosting a Jubilee Street Party on Sunday June 3rd (Big Lunch Day). If you and your neighbours plan something similar, we hope you take lots of photos. A page can be made available on the EGRA website.

Courtenay Drive Tree Initiative
The successful tree replacement scheme set up by local residents is now being rolled out in neighbouring streets.

Police Museum visit
On Thursday 19th April, twenty five EGRA members paid a fascinating visit to the Thames Valley Police Museum at Sulhamstead. There will be a full write-up in the Summer Newsletter.

Shopping Precinct Car Park
As the condition of the car park reaches crisis pitch, we learn that planning permission has now been granted for sections of the paved area near the shops to replaced with tarmac. Common sense prevailing, we hope these intentions extend to a proper and long lasting job of the parking area itself.

Thames Valley Police
The non-emergency contact number has changed to 101. Rebecca Blackburn, Police Community Support Officer for Emmer Green and Caversham Park, invites us to get in touch if we have any problems. She can be contacted direct on 07970145328 or via email at rebecca.blackburn@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk

Caversham Good Neighbours
This voluntary organisation based in Caversham helps residents of Caversham and Emmer Green by offering transport to local surgeries, hospital etc. and home visits. They would like to recruit more volunteers and also promote the service they offer. Please phone the office on 0118 9483466 Monday to Friday 9.30am -11.30am or Secretary Pat Rawlings on 0118 9477778.

History of Emmer Green website
For ten years this site has been hosted by Highdown School and we wish to thank Jane Moody for her help creating the pages and maintaining it. The school now has a new website, which is hosted externally. In future EGRA will be hosting the history site. It may take a while to reconfigure and incorporate it into the EGRA site. We will let you know when that is done.
